Station Facilities

Refurbishment of stations  l  New bus centres  l  Flagship facility  l  Continual investment

Translink has invested heavily in building and refurbishing passenger facilites across the public transport network to the highest quality and with a particular emphasis on accessibility.

Refurbishment of Stations

Most recently, a new and transformed Central Station in Belfast was opened on 25th March 2003.  This investment provides rail users with a state of the art station with all the features of a modern 21st century transport interchange.  In addition to the fully accessible new passenger waiting area, platform and restaurant facilities, the exterior of the building was renewed and the car park and road management system was improved.

Carrickfergus Railway Station underwent a second phase of renovation work between November 2002 and June 2003.  The latest refurbishment work includes the installation of new lifts, a new stairway, subway canopy and CCTV to further improve accessibility and safety.

New Bus Centres

Recently, in May 2007, Strabane’s first, modern and fully accessible public transport facility was unveiled on schedule and amid much local interest.

Providing significantly improved services for passengers in the Strabane area the new depot at Bradley Way forms part of Translink’s rolling programme of investment in Ulsterbus services across the North West and wider regions.

Equipped with a modern, heated and comfortable seated waiting area, parent and baby room, cycle racks and a 43-space Park and Ride facility, the new centre is fully accessible and has been purpose built to the highest specification within a four-month timeframe. More...>>

Our commitment to providing first class passenger amenities can be further be seen in the new state-of-the-art bus centres that opened in Magherafelt and in Ballyclare during 2002 and the integrated Bus & Rail centres that opened in Bangor and Coleraine in 2001.

Other new and improved bus passenger facilities include:  Armagh & Newry which were opened in 1999 and Limavady  in January 1998.

Flagship Facility

Translink's flagship facility is undoubtedly the joint bus and rail facilities at Europa Buscentre/Great Victoria Street Station which have received widespread recognition and have been awarded a Charter Mark.  Oxford Street Bus Station was replaced in 1996 with the new Laganside Buscentre, providing facilities of a similar standard to those provided at Europa/Great Victoria Street.

Continual Investment

Progressive plans are in place to continue the investment programme for passenger facilities.
