11th March 2008:
World Book Day is all about encouraging people to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own and Guildhall Press wants to endorse and encourage this.
Joining forces with Translink Northern Ireland, Guildhall Press distributed over 100 books free to passengers travelling on the Translink bus and rail services leaving Derry for Belfast and Dublin on Monday 10th March.
As one of the lucky passengers, you can choose to browse, read or ignore the book. Ideally, we would prefer if you left the book behind when you have completed your own journey during the day for others to read and enjoy. But if by the time this book reaches you, it is the last bus trip of the day, then feel free to take it with you and pass it on to someone else.
To enter a free draw to win a selection of Guildhall Press titles, plus a one-day Translink Freedom of Northern Ireland ticket (unlimited day travel across the province), please send us your thoughts on either the book and/or the journey in around 200 words to info@ghpress.com or to the address below, marking it FAO World Book Day. Please remember to include your contact details, the title of the book you received, your travel details plus eventual destination of the book, should it be known. Closing date is Thursday 20 March.
Lynda Shannon, Communications Manager for Translink Northern Ireland, adds her support for reading and World Book Day:
"We are delighted to be working with Guildhall Press on this initiative. Many people love reading, but never really have the time to enjoy a good book, as busy lives mean busy schedules. However, even a short journey to and from work can provide a great opportunity to catch up on your fiction favourites if you take the bus or train and can even help reduce our stress and traffic congestion at the same time!”
