While pupils across Northern Ireland are happily preparing to toss their school-bags into the cupboard for the summer, Translink has encouraged parents to get their applications in early for next year’s pupil travel passes.
“Traditionally parents are faced with huge costs at the end of August as they purchase new uniforms, school-bags and stationery for their children. Purchasing their children’s travel passes early allows them to plan ahead and spread the cost over the summer months. It also means there’s one less thing to worry about in the busy run-up to the next academic year,” said Translink’s Carol Marsden.
“Pre-paid pupil passes are convenient and cost effective and represent an ideal solution for children who do not qualify for free travel passes. As there is no need to carry cash parents can also rest easy that money for daily bus or rail fares cannot be spent elsewhere, such as in the tuck shop or snack machine,” she said.
Translink Pupil Passes are available from all main bus and rail stations or by contacting the Pupil Ticket Office directly on 028 9035 4074. Each application is individually assessed with the rate of discount varying depending on individual circumstances and travel requirements.
