Top Accolade For Translink Manager
15 June 2006
Aidan Faloona, Acting Manager for Translink’s Europa and Laganside Bus Centres has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to public transport in Northern Ireland.
Aidan was included in the New Year’s Honours list following 40 years’ service with Translink and was presented with his MBE medal at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace last week.
Beginning his career in 1966 as a clerk in Translink’s Oxford Street premises, Aidan subsequently held positions as Chief Clerk and Internal auditor before taking up his role as District Manager, serving Belfast’s Europa station for three years and Newry Bus Centre for seven.
“It’s wonderful to be rewarded for your efforts and I am delighted with this award, but it’s also important to recognise that I could never have achieved this without the support of my family and the co-operation of my colleagues,” said Aidan.
“During my 40 years with Translink we’ve been through some difficult times, such as the Smithfield and Oxford Street bombs. However I have also met some great people over the years, both customers and colleagues, and in accepting my award I also pay tribute to them.”
